Instagram Updates Spotify Integration for Stories

Instagram now allows users to share Spotify songs in Stories with playable previews, enhancing music interaction beyond just linking to tracks.
When you add a Spotify music sticker to your Story, followers can now hear a short preview right within Instagram—an upgrade from the old version that only included a link.
Although Instagram has long supported music in Stories, this update is unique because it integrates Spotify playback directly into the post, expanding its capabilities.
Previously, users could share songs through “Add Yours” music stickers and post Spotify tracks in Notes, but direct audio playback in Stories wasn’t available.
Now users can also share what they’re listening to on Spotify directly to Stories, following a similar update WhatsApp introduced in its Status feature.
This enhancement gives Instagram a competitive edge in the music-sharing space, especially if TikTok faces restrictions or bans in the U.S.
TikTok has become a major platform for music discovery and promotion, leading some music publishers to rename songs to better match TikTok trends.
If TikTok is removed due to U.S. regulations like the “Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act,” Instagram may become the top alternative for music engagement.
YouTube is also stepping up its music-sharing tools, and despite political pressures, TikTok still operates, keeping the competition active.
Still, Instagram’s new feature gives users another fun and social way to share the music they love.
